Beginning October 2, 2026, local school districts no longer issue paper work permits for students under 18. The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO) has officially launched the Youth Employment Permit Portal (YEPP) to centralize and streamline work permit approvals across the state.
