Making a Difference, One Donation at a Time!

The CROP Hunger Walk is a nationwide community service event organized by Church World Service (CWS) to raise awareness and fight hunger both locally and around the world. Since 1969, communities across the United States have participated in these walks to support families experiencing food insecurity. Donations help provide emergency food assistance, clean water, agricultural resources, and long-term solutions to hunger. A portion of the funds raised also supports local food banks and hunger-relief organizations.

Each year, Columbia Central High School’s Leadership Class and Napoleon High School’s Senate and Leadership students participate in a friendly competition as part of our local CROP Hunger Walk. The schools challenge one another to collect the most nonperishable food items, raise monetary donations, and encourage participation in the walk.

This annual tradition promotes school spirit, teamwork, community service, compassion, and leadership while bringing two neighboring school communities together for an important cause.

This year, Columbia Central’s Golden Eagles won the annual CROP Hunger Walk Challenge!

Through the generosity and dedication of our students, staff, and school community, we accomplished the following:

  • 2,000 nonperishable food items collected

  • $200 donated to our local food pantry

  • First place in our annual competition against Napoleon!

Our Leadership students helped organize and promote the food drive, encouraged participation during advisory classes, and worked together to make this year’s event a success.

Although winning the competition is exciting, the greatest accomplishment is knowing that our efforts will help individuals and families experiencing hunger in our own community.

This annual project reminds students that leadership is more than organizing events or earning recognition. True leadership means showing kindness, taking initiative, working together, and making a positive difference in the lives of others.

We are incredibly proud of our Golden Eagles and grateful to everyone who contributed to this meaningful cause.

Leading with kindness. Serving with purpose. Making a difference.
