Welcome to Columbia School District
Proudly serving Brooklyn, Cement City, Clarklake, and surrounding communities.
Nestled in the heart of southeast Michigan’s lake country, Columbia School District blends a scenic, recreation-rich lifestyle with top-tier public education. Formed in the late 1960s through the consolidation of the Brooklyn, Cement City, Clarklake, and surrounding school systems, our district today serves over 1,400 students across four counties.
Our growing, vibrant community brings together rural charm and diverse perspectives—creating an engaging, supportive environment where every student can thrive.
What Sets Us Apart
Community-Backed Investment: Thanks to our supportive community, voters recently passed a $14.8 million bond to fund major district-wide improvements—including modern facilities, upgraded baseball/softball facilities, enhanced security features, and expanded student spaces.
Modern, Safe Facilities: Thanks to recent upgrades, our buildings feature secure entry vestibules, updated climate control, modernized technology infrastructure, and brand-new playgrounds.
Early Childhood Excellence: We offer free Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) preschool for 4-year-olds, as well as tuition-based preschool and childcare options for 3- and 4-year-olds to give our youngest learners a strong start.
Rigorous Academics & STEM: Our students have the opportunity to dual enroll in college courses, participate in AP courses, and take online courses.
Award-Winning Programs: Our students excel beyond the classroom through an award-winning band program and competitive athletic teams.
